In the winter/summer of 2000 the MA-URI® Institute purchased 4 hectares of land in Waiotira, Northland - New Zealand. This is a piece of land that has some pasture on it, but more importantly some remnants of the original TEMPERATE RAIN- FOREST special to New Zealand. This piece of land has been specially chosen as the new base and home for MA-URI, a place to put down roots; a place to connect with the energies of Aotearoa, its Nature and People - and thus with the energies of Polynesia.

At the present moment the first 3 buildings have been completed, namely the administration building and private quarters for Hemi and Katja, a combined garage and storage shed, and the small MA-URI Training building called 'Whare Kahu'. This first training building at Waiotira has been given this name in honour and respect of Kahu Abraham Kawai'i and in acknowledgement of the hawks, 'Kahu' in Maori, that are always circling above this area.

Because of the privilege we have been given by the Maori tribes that Hemi is related to, we have the good fortune to be able to hold our workshops at Maori Marae - like Waikare Marae and Terenga Paraoa Marae. This gives students a unique experience of Maori culture and spiritual practices - something that Waiotira cannot provide. The Institute has therefore decided to put further building projects to rest for the moment and develop Waiotira more as a retreat and special place where 'Huna Bees' and Trainers can come to explore their love of Nature, connect with the land of MA-URI and enjoy the peaceful healing powers of the Bush.

Kia Ora!
